The redevelopment of Johnson Ferry East Apartments (JFE) is a private/public partnership that will result in an award winning mixed -income, mixed-use community. JFE is currently owned by the Housing Authority of Dekalb County and is comprised of 498 units, located on approximately 56 acres in unincorporated North Dekalb County. The Overall Redevelopment Plan for Johnson Ferry East calls for a 2-phase demolition of the existing buildings and a multi-phased redevelopment that will include the following components:

Seniors Component (3 phases):

  • Ashford Parkside, 151 units, independent senior apartments
  • Ashford Landing, 117 units, independent senior apartments
  • Marketside Villas, 170 units, independent senior apartments and a 10,000 square foot commercial component

Mixed Use Component:

  • Residential Over Retail
  • Neighborhood Commercial
  • Luxury Apartments

Neighborhood Residential Component:

  • Fee Simple Luxury Townhomes
  • Fee Simple Single Family Homes

Public Component:

  • Integration of PATH multi-purpose trail
  • +/- 3 acre Central Park

The seniors components will be restricted to residents that are 62 years of age and older with Ashford Parkside and Ashford Landing serving as replacement housing for the existing senior residents at JFE. All other components will be available at market prices.
